タルベラダム，改めて紐解いてみると，１９６０年に計画が持ち上がると同時に，インドとパキスタンの間でインダス水条約（Indus Waters Treaty）が締結され，着工した，高さ１４３ｍのロックフィルで，流域面積１７万平方キロで，貯水容量が１４３億トン，１９７７年以来，増設を繰り返す，
今日の地元紙は，第５次増設計画がもたついており，ＷＡＰＤＡ総裁が現地で激励している，資金は世銀とアジ銀によるもの，今回の増設分は１５３万ＫＷで，第４次増設までの４８９万ＫＷから６４２万ＫＷと大規模になり，電力不足に苦しむパキスタンの期待を担っている，２０２５年の完成予定

LAHORE-Chairman WAPDA Engr Lt Gen (r) Sajjad Ghani has directed the contractor to chalk out a recovery plan and implement it in letter and spirit for completion of the 1530 MW-Tarbela 5th Extension Hydropower Project according to the schedule.
World Bank is providing $390 million and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank $300 million for construction of the project. Electricity generation from the project will start in 2025. With completion of Tarbela 5th Extension, installed capacity at Tarbela Dam will increase from 4888 MW to 6418 MW.

The dam is 143 metres (470 ft) high above the riverbed and its reservoir, Tarbela Lake, has a surface area of approximately 250 square kilometres (97 sq mi).
Background
Tarbela Dam was constructed as part of the Indus Basin Project after signing of the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty between India and Pakistan. The purpose was to compensate for the loss of water supplies of the eastern rivers (Ravi, Sutlej and Beas) that were designated for exclusive use by India per terms of the treaty.[8] By the mid-1970s, power generation capacity was added in three subsequent hydro-electrical project extensions which were completed in 1992, installing a total of 3,478 MW generating capacity.
