ドゥテルテ大統領は昭和１９年生まれの一人で，太平洋戦争の末期に生を受けたという，共通の屈折を受けた可能性があり，中国へ傾斜する心情の中には，米国への特殊な感情が包含されている可能性があると思っている，それも中国へのメッセージの直前に，米国との訪軍協定を破棄している

ドゥテルテ大統領の前のアキノ大統領の末期，南シナ海に中国が基地化を図っている，として国際裁判所で，中国の行為は不適切，との裁定を受けている，しかも一旦は解消した米軍基地を復活するところまで話は進んでいた，このような複雑な国際情勢の中で，ド大統領の手腕に注目する，
