２０２３年１２月１８日 メコン本流のパクベン水力開発で，中国企業が反対運動に巻き込まれる
バンコク・ポスト紙報ず，メコン川本流，ラオスのルワンプラワン上流，パクベン水力プロジェクト（Pak Beng Hydropower Project in Laos）の開発が，中国企業とタイの電力公社ＥＧＡＴの間で売電契約が進み，本格着工が目の前に迫っている中で，貯水池が到達するタイのチェンライが反対運動
メコン川本流のダム開発は，上流中国領内の１１ダムの開発が完了して，愈々下流域の開発が俎上に上がってきているが，サヤブリダムは既に完了しており，その下流にパクベン計画が動き始めている，ダムの高さは６１ｍだが流れ込み式に近く，出力は９１万ＫＷ，年間４８億ＫＷｈの大計画である
パクベン計画を主導する中国企業は，殆ど中国の属国と化しているラオス領内，このパクベン付近はメコン川がタイと関係ないラオス領内なので開発を強行しても問題ないと楽観視していたが，貯水池のバックウオーターがタイのチェンライに達し，反対運動で面食らっている，https://x.gd/qE5Oi

ネパールエネルギー省が発表したMOUによると、プロジェクトへの総投資額は約24億1000万米ドルになります。揚水型水力発電所として、この駅には双曲型アーチダムと貯水池があり、ネパールの首都カトマンズから約80 km離れた場所にあります。
